Title: Hold Back the Stars
Author: Katie Khan
Publisher: Transworld Publishers
Publication Date: January 26th, 2017 (UK)
Page Count: 304 pages
Genre: Young Adult, Science Fiction, Romance
Synopsis: Carys and Max have ninety minutes of air left.
None of this was supposed to happen.
But perhaps this doesn’t need to be the end…
Adrift in space with nothing to hold on to but each other, Carys and Max can’t help but look back at the well-ordered world they have left behind – at the rules they couldn’t reconcile themselves to, and a life to which they might now never return.
For in a world where love is banned, what happens when you find it?
The characters in Hold Back the Stars were built really well, I liked the main characters a lot especially Carys, Max and there’s a character that helps them both while out in space called Osric that I just love! There are a few background characters like Max and Carys’s parents and friends, I feel like Katie Khan really did a good job in differentiating them from each other.
The main story is set in space where they have to work together to save themselves from running out of air, the story does go back and forth from space and to the world they were on in the past where you find out how they came about going into space.
I finished this book a bit confused as it ended with a few different scenarios, I ended it feeling emotional, happy and content. I really enjoyed this one off read, it was something totally different to what I’d usually pick up but I’d defiantly recommend it for those light-hearted readers who like a bit of romance and raw emotion.
